Lima, Nov. 30 (ANDINA). Peru is seeking to get its tasty and diverse cuisine included in the Unesco’s Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
Culture Minister Juan Ossio said Peru will be submitting a file to the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (Unesco) next year.
"It is a just reward considering not only the variety of flavors and dishes, but also the cultural activities surrounding the local cuisine since ancient times," said Ossio.
The minister mentioned that Peruvian fare has already been named Cultural Heritage of the Nation, "a fundamental requirement for its recognition as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity."
“Ancient culinary customs and techniques as well as practical knowledge and traditional agricultural practices are featured in the file," he added.
