In particular, one part of the celebration is known as cortamonte in coastal areas like Lima , umisha in jungle areas and Yunza in the highland regions like La Sierra , the Peru Tourism Bureau Advises.

The ritual sees a tree planted in order to be felled , with the couple who diliver the final chop tasked with organising the following year's yunza : i-t-o.com , reported
With a tradition of throwing water over the participants and spectators , those attending the event may want to keep a dry change of clothing back in their hotel room.

Holidaymakers travelling together may also want to compete to become the victor in a round of golf at Lima Golf Club in the district of San Isidro.
Located on the river deltas of The Rimac , Lurin and Chillon waterwys , it may come as no surprise that number of golf courses can be found in the Lima area.
Meanwhile, for those travelling later in the year , the procession of the Lord of Miracles takes the country intop November as a 2000-kilo depiction of Christ is carried through the streets of Lima by devotees.
